Biofuels are becoming more attractive as a viable supplement or alternative to petroleum-based fuels. Agilent J&W Biodiesel is designed and application-optimized for the analysis of biodiesel to meet ASTM and CEN testing standards. The column provides the highest level of performance for the determination of free and total glycerin, FAMEs, and trace methanol.
- Complete range of biodiesel GC columns specially designed according to EN14105, ASTM D6584, EN14103, EN14110, and EN14331 Methods
- Bonded and cross-linked
EN14103 for the determination of ester and linoleic acid methyl ester content
EN14103 is used for the measurement of the proper amount of FAME in B100. Agilent s Biodiesel EN14103 FAME Analysis GC column provides excellent peak shape for the FAME analysis. When the column is combined with the unsurpassed quantitative precision of Agilent 7890 and 6890 GCs, the Agilent solution provides performance that exceeds the specifications of EN14103.
EN14110 for the determination of methanol content
EN14110 is used for the measurement of residual methanol in B100. High methanol content can raise vapor pressure and increase flammability. Agilent s Biodiesel EN14110 Residual Methanol GC column was designed for headspace alcohol analysis with excellent peak shape.
EN14331 for the separation and characterization of FAMEs from middle distillate fuels EN14331 ensures the key FAME compounds in the biodiesel are in correct proportion. However, a complex sample matrix makes this analysis difficult. By leveraging the Capillary Flow Technology Deans Switch for heart cutting 2D GC, a primary HP-5ms column (Agilent part number 19091S-331), and a secondary HP-INNOWax column (Agilent part number 19091N-233), the Agilent solution enables separation of individual FAME compounds from the petroleum hydrocarbons using two dimensional GC without complicated and costly sample preparation. The solution provides a faster and easier approach for full analysis of FAME distribution in biodiesel blends, and exceeds the precision requirements of EN14331.
